The shopping edit: September.

September is going to bitchslap me, slam me into a wall and give me a dead arm - it's going to be a bit of a tough month.  I'm finding my way back to shopping, oh-so-very-slowly.  Over the course of the summer, I was so disinterested in everything, apart from buying useless but cute ceramic jars for the house, putting together flatpack furniture, disassembling and repacking flatpack furniture after discovering it was faulty, and ranting at customer services.  Apparently there wasn't much time for makeup in all that kerfuffle.

I just... wasn't interested.  I'm guessing it's because I didn't have the internet, and couldn't drool over endless hauls of beautiful things, but nothing interested me - that is, until a small package from across the pond dropped through my door. It contained a Burberry eyeshadow, and begged me to enjoy it.  And so I did - and then felt myself wanting to run screaming to the shops and buy everything, all at once, forever.

Since easing myself back into the OMGMUSTHAVE kind of existence (and I do it very well), I've been compiling lists upon lists in an idle fashion, and then crossing stuff out and putting it back on.  In all my indecisiveness, here are the 4 things I settled on for this month's shopping list, and what beauties they are indeed!

Click on the image of the product to take you to their website! I don't use affiliate links, so click without fear :)

Unii Palette.

MAC bores me. Their palettes are ugly, and I don't even care for my MAC shadows anymore. For all of my other little depots that need rehoming after my upcoming purge of MAC from my makeup collection, I think one of these in a saccharine-sweet colour will sweeten the deal - so cute and practical with a mirror and a pre-magnetised base. Perfect for travel, and look much sturdier than MAC's palettes, too!

Burberry Sheer Eye Shadows.

Ah, and now we come to the reason behind the MAC purge.  Recently my friend Panties over at The Black Panties blog (click it, she has the most amazing taste in high-end makeup), took it upon her lovely self to send me a gift, my very first eyeshadow from Burberry.  And what a beauty.  These babies are so soft and pigmented without being chalky or powdery and I feel like I don't really care for anything else but these.  These are done to perfection, and I'm hoping for a couple more.  On my list? Well I kind of want all of them.  Right now I'm leaning towards Pale Barley and Pearl Grey. And Mulberry. And all the other ones.

Hydraluron.

This is kind of the new buzzword in skin care right now.  When Caroline Hirons gives something a rave, you sit up and take notice.  This is supposed to make the skin super-soft, glowy and plump, giving an instantaneous feeling of moisture.  I haven't taken much notice of products from this brand yet, but this could be the one to sway me - anything with plump or super-soft and I'm there, basically, massaging it enthusiastically into my grey never-seen-the-light-of-day skin.

Armani Maestro Foundation.

Small confession - I was so horrendously excited about this product launching that I've bought it already. AND *cough* I paid for express shipping. It arrives tomorrow, and I just can't wait to try it out for the first time.  This is apparently a revolutionary formula that contains oils, lasts all day and looks like skin.  Seeing as increasingly I'm seeing my foundation in the harsh light of day and can see the swirl marks where I didn't manage to blend properly, or the bits where it has stuck to dry skin, this just sounds amazing. It's a liquid texture packaged with a pipette, and when I tested it at the counter, it spread slickly over the skin, I just can't wait to see what it's like on my face!

I can't wait to squeal over my little Armani purchase that arrives tomorrow!

Are you waiting on anything exciting? What's your shopping list for this month?

  1. I'm massively over excited about the things I've ordered from the new Illamasqua collection!

I actually THOUGHT I'd pre-ordered them last week before it was launched and was getting all irate when they failed to materialise. HOWEVER, It turned out that I'd got distracted by my lust for new black glittery nail polish and raspberry pink lipstick and failed to notice that Paypal had sent me back to the Illamasqua site to confirm the payment so closed the page think it was a done deal. Oh the woe - especially as I have no one to blame but myself. ;)

  4. Loove Burberry shadows, I have the taupe brown one and am heavily resisting the urge to buy more. Funnily enough our shopping lists are kind of similar, I also would like to check out the Armani foundation and the Hydraluron. On my list as well though is Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca. Sprayed it in Selfridges and I am in love!

    1. Oh yeah and I am currently waiting for my HQ Hair delivery of Decleor skin care as they had a good deal with 50% off so I stocked up. I only had travelsized products, but they worked so well on my skin that I got fullsized ones, am anxiously scratching my nails on the table waiting for them to arrive.

    2. Yes! Taupe Brown and Trench were my first ones - and I'm resisting Hydraluron at the moment, though I can't imagine it taking long for me to topple ;)

  5. I've read about the Armani Meastro foundation on a few blogs now, and I want to try it! It sounds great, I love the fact its contains oil and not another watery foundation.
    Hope you like yours :)

  7. Only good words for Hydraluron from me here. I like it more than other hydrating serums for its gel like texture as other products tend to be too runny.

Want to check out Burberry makeup myself but not until I get over my curiousity for By Terry!

    1. I like both brands for different things.

Burberry: eyeshadows and lipsticks I adore.
By Terry: foundation, concealer, cream eyeshadows, loose powder and their new liquid primer too. Not to mention their lipsticks and glosses. mmmm

  8. Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in No. 22 Pale Barley is awesome. I don't like 02 Trench :( well it doesn't work for my skin tone, it looks very ashy on yellow undertones.

Uhh I cannot wait to see your review on the new Armani foundation. It has become the new blogger rave item ;)
I'm actually waiting on my new photo equipment for my blog (daylight lamps and a softbox YAY) and a Dior brush (have you tried them? they're sooooooo soft and fluffy, I could spend hours caressing these damn expensive brushes!). Can't wait for these items to finally get here :)

  10. Can't wait to hear what you think of the Armani Maestro foundation. I've heard good things about it, but also that it contains a lot of alcohol. Please, please do a review soon. Thanks :0) x

  11. I went to Nordstrom to try out the new Armani foundation today. Their specialist wasn't there so someone else packaged up some samples for me to try. I think I'm between 3 and 5. I also played with the Burberry eye shadows and have definitely added Rosewood to my wish list. Oh, and a Clinique Airbrush Concealer. And Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow. And...

  12. I can never find Hydraluron online or in Walgreens (where it's supposed to be sold in the states). It's been frustrating, because I think I really need it for winter coming up.

  13. Just bought 4 of the Unii palettes! I am so sick of hunting all over the place for my go to make up and want it all in one place to bring with me. And especially as i have a flat the size of a large walk in closet the space savings of depotting really sealed the deal. These sound AMAZING and sturdy and i love the huge mirror for on the go touch ups!

  14. My curiosity has been peaked abt Hydraluron! Am going to have to do some research to see where I can find it stateside. I will have some Burberry on it's way to me shortly. I'm on the fence re: the new Armani foundation. Being an oily gal I'm a bit leery of it. However, I would love to find a retailer that carries it locally so I could at least see it!

    1. Everyone is talking about it - apparently Stateside it's sold in Walgreens! Apparently the oils are actually good for oily skin - there's some science behind it! I'll let you know how I get on :)

  18. Have you seen the limited edition maybelline colour tattoo in barely beige, it's been released in the US, and it will be coming over to the UK at some point. It looks like a better mac painterly for me (since I'm super pale) and it's got a slight shimmer. Something you might be interested in. :)
