The shopping edit: June.

Perhaps it's the whole capsule collection idea that prompted such a short shopping list this month, where instead of my usual squeezing the most out of my 600x600 pixel square in order to show you the things I'm currently making googly eyes at, I'm faced with a surfeit of white space.  It feels weird, because I just don't really want anything - well, apart from these five things.  And a blush from Illamasqua Naked Strangers called Naked Rose (which I now have and LOVE FOREVER OMG OMG GUYS YOU NEED IT).

So anyway, this shopping list is kind of not in my usual style, like I've polluted myself with my own self-righteous use-more-shop-less propaganda.  I have to admit, though - it did work. I am buying less - and more to the point, I'm wanting to buy less.  It's a bit of a weird feeling.  I may need a lie-down.

As usual, each image will take you to the product's website with no affiliate links or crap like that because I'm not a sneaky linkerer.

1. Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau de Parfum.

I haven't smelled this, but something in me wants it - I don't know if it's the bottle or what but it just looks so sweet. I ordered a little sample, but I'm hearing good things about this, and that it's similar to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Maybe. I have a feeling this will be a lovely little thing of a perfume.

2. Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour in Alloy.

I'm in the early stages of a relationship with Laura Mercier, and this would definitely be the next step for us. This is a gorgeous metallic taupe cream eyeshadow and is basically gorgeous on a plate (with a side serving of either cream or gravy, depending on which course you're on. Not both, you sick thing). Realistically, I probably don't need this thing, but I need to make up for the fact that the Caviar Stick in Amethyst and I don't get along, mainly because it's too warm for me and makes me look diseased. This would more than make up.

3. Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum.

I keep hearing amazing things about this and will be grabbing a sample tube this month to see if it lives up to the hype. I'm a huge fan of Caudalie skin care as it has always delivered great results for me. My skin typically tends to be oily and dehydrated, so I'm looking forward to seeing if this is going to walk the walk.  I found a little samples page at Zuneta here, where you can order a maximum of three (different) samples for free, as long as you pay shipping, so that's exactly what I did.

4. Beauté Liqui-Gel Stain in Fever.

Actually I already bought this, so this is sort of a lie. In a pinch, this would make an amazing Halloween fake blood product. An expensive fake blood product.  Other than that, this. is. THE SHIT. This is easily the bestest, most reddest of the red Snow-White-gone-vamp stain and it is incredible.  I say that about a lot of things, but seriously, this is something you must own. You'll see why in my excitable OMG post coming up about how much you want this. Because you do.

5. Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm.

I finished a friggin' lip balm. A whole one. I have never, ever finished a lip balm in my entire life, due to various reasons.  Usually I lose the lip balm somewhere, or it smells funky. Or I hate it and throw it away, and I never usually use lip balms anyway.  This is sort of a reward. Yes, I know, for finishing a lip balm. Weirdly, since I've started to use balm regularly, my lips have more dry and sore than before. If I didn't need it before, I do now! This is supposed to be the stuff of miracles. Can't wait.

  1. I'm really interested to try the Nuxe balm! Have you tried it yet? I wonder if it will taste or smell overpoweringly honey? I too am not a big fan of lip balm though I know I need to use it as I have such parched lips!

Another intriguing thing on your list is the SOS serum by Caudalie! Do you know how big the samples are from Zuneta? Is it a tiny pot or a sachet? I once ordered samples from Pai skincare and they came in tiny pots but I could barely get 2 uses of it before it was already used up!

    Thanks! x

    1. It hasn't arrived yet, I'm really curious as well as I'm not a fan of honey-scented products! I almost never used lip balm until a while ago - and then I set myself a challenge to use one up and my lips have been the driest thing ever since!

The samples from Zuneta *just* arrived through my door. They are very small samples indeed - 1ml. I guess it will last a couple of uses and that's it. Perhaps if you're looking for something bigger you might find it on eBay or something :/ I'm interested to see how much use I'll be able to get out of each sample though x

  3. I use both the NUXE balm and Caudalie serum. Work like a charm! I think you'll enjoy them. I can't wait to sniff La Petite Robe Noire either! It sounds very promising!

    1. can't wait for the balm to arrive, my lips feel like they are withering away! From someone who never uses a lip balm ever, I have now developed a strange dependency. Damnit, where's my Nuxe!

  4. I love the caudalie serum, it was a sad moment for my skin when my sample ran out. I really want the lip balm! But I have to say, from your experience with lip balms, which mirror my own, they are evil. Before I used them dry lips were not an issue for me, now I find myself rummaging in the middle of the night for one because my lips are about to fall off. Eek!

  5. The Caudalie Vinosource Serum is amazing, my mom bought it a few weeks ago and I've been borrowing it constantly from her! It has a really pleasant scent and doesn't leave the skin oily which is a big plus xx

  7. i tried LPRN last night, and it's amazingggg, don't think it smells like coco mademoiselle, more like miss dior chérie i would say. it's deep but it's got a hint of gourmand, i think it's black cherry, it's delicious and i want it.

    1. I got mine through the post a couple of days ago! I think it smells lovely, very cherry, but in a cherry syrup kind of way! I'm going to try and review it, I think, even if I'm not very good reviewing perfumes!

  9. Even though I wasn't lucky with Caudalie in the past (it's widely available here and I tried a few moisturizers years ago, they gave me eczema), I keep reading about that serum too and I'm itching to try it! I need to find out if I can get samples in a pharmacy here!!

    1. oh that's a shame! You should definitely try a pharmacy, it's a lovely serum but not worth eczema! Caudalie actually improved my eczema - funny how things work, isn't it?!

  10. I have the stick form and the smell is really nice, like lemons (prob cos there is lemon oil in it) but im distinctly whelmed. Id love to try the pot though because you have to scoop it out. Oh and julia stiles was my teenage girl crush because of 10 things i hate about you. Loving the reference!

  12. The CAUDALIE VINOSOURCE SOS THIRST-QUENCHING SERUM (what a long name!) is lovely! I've been using it for the last couple of weeks and I've noticed a huge improvement in my skin remaining hydrated throughout the day! Also it's cool when applied and quite light so it sits nicely under my makeup! Thanks for the link to that site! Katie

  13. hum!!! ... not sure about the Nuxe lip balm tried a long time ago, was ok, nothing to go and get another, maybe they change the formulation... Think I will give a second try. But I love the Burt's Bees great product and cheap :))) also like the DR Hauschka one, actually I like both of the lip balms from Hauschka. But the cherry on the top of the cake is Sisley Lip balm, a tinny very expensive little jar of pure miracle :) Have you tried any of these?
